Review: Aztec Diamond Snake Skin Breeches

A couple years back,  I came across Aztec Diamond's limited edition Houndstooth Luxe breeches. Unfortunately, they were already sold out. Ever since, I've been watching the site to see if they'd come out with anything similar while debating to get a pair from their "Everyday" collection. This year, they debuted the "Snake Skin" breeches, which had the similar leather-like sheen the houndstooth had that I loved so much. After very careful measuring and reading every review I could find,  I ordered them in a UK size 14. For reference, I am a 28R in Tailored Sportsman. A little over a week later, the breeches arrived, and I was so excited. Unfortunately, that excitement was cut very short.

While this review said the waistband's of AD's breeches offered little stretch, I thought I'd be fine as I had measured. Nope.

Out of 5, with 5 being the best.

The Fit: 1.  I'm not a rider who would ever want to wear a pair of breeches that have zero stretch in the waistband. Most jeans even have some stretch in the waistband, and those aren't made for performing a sport in. The waistband was also an inch smaller than what was on the size chart (really made sure to measure carefully) and because of the nonexistent stretch, there was no way I could make them work. The rest of the breeches on the other hand, were very stretchy and overall a little baggy on me, leading me to believe the only person who would fit into these breeches would be someone with larger thighs and legs with a very tiny waist. If that's you, these are perfect for you.

The fabric: 2.  The fabric was pretty flimsy and thin, and overall looked and felt a bit cheap to me. But for the price of the other non-limited edition breeches (under $120), I guess it would be ok.

The customer service: 4.5.  Their customer service team was very responsive and answered any questions I had. When I told them that I would be sending them back due to the lack of stretch in the waist, they told me they'd be releasing some new pants with a partial stretch panel in them later in the month and gave me free shipping code in case I wanted to order a pair.

Overall Experience: 2.  I had such high hopes for these breeches that everyone else seems to love so much. Sadly, I guess they just aren't made for my body type, but I've never been a hard fit with breeches before. I do know that the people who love them really love them though, so everyone is different. However, you have to pay around $30 to find out, and another $30+ to return them if they don't work out and to me that will never be worth it again.
