Sun Safety
Being an equestrian usually means being exposed to a significant amount of sun. I'm a firm believer in sun safety and taking care of your skin - aside from the premature aging, there's the increased risk of skin cancer. Growing up, I always hated sunscreen. It was so heavy and greasy, burned my eyes, and left a residue that made me look like a ghost. Luckily, beauty companies have made sun protection much more tolerable over the years, and now I am never without it. Below is my list of sun protection favorites, all of which have been gentle enough for my sensitive skin.
- It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+ : I use this as my foundation every day. It covers the redness in my cheeks and evens out my skintone without looking cakey or heavy, and still lets my freckles show through. It's also super easy to apply: no Instagram-worthy blending skills required. This CC cream is medium coverage.

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact with SPF 50+ : This is a really neat product as it's the first "solid serum" makeup on the market and is packed with an anti-aging concentrate. It's also great for travel and touch-ups on the go. I keep this in my purse to make sure I always have sun protection for my face on time-pressed mornings. This has a little bit more coverage than the CC Cream, but still keeps a natural finish and is also very easy to apply.

- Algenist Sublime Defense Ultra Lightweight UV Defense Fluid SPF 50 : This is my favorite for my neck and decollete because its lightweight, comfortable, and non-sticky. This is what I'll use on no-makeup days.

- Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 45 : I found this product in 2010 when I needed an easy to reapply sun screen for Coachella, and it was definitely put to the test. I used it on my face, neck, and arms, and didn't get sunburned all weekend. It's been a staple in my bag since. It does have a little nude color in it, so if you're in white show clothes, be careful with it. This is probably my favorite out of all sun protection products because of its versatility. Reapplication doesn't get cakey or ruin your makeup if you're wearing it, it's always light on the skin, and it's so portable.
What are your favorite sun & skin care products?
Happy riding!
xoxo, Karina
