Professional's Choice Pro Performance Show Jump Boot Review

"These boots feature a ventilated dual hardness outer shell which is designed to dissipate energy when the strike area is hit. The shock absorbing air cushion fits in an anatomically shaped strike area, reducing the force of impact and then returning to its original shape. Perfect for both schooling and the show ring." - Professional's Choice

Hi guys! I'm trying my best to get back into the swing of blogging and getting reviews and posts out as often as I can, but I'm also planning my wedding and it's only a month away so things are starting to get crazy. Anyways, I wanted to review these boots by Professional's Choice because I love them so much!

Pro Choice is well known for their girths (which I also love) and their sports medicine boots, but I feel like their jumping boots don't get as much recognition as they should. After my beloved Veredus Carbon Gel boots got stolen (ugh), I was looking for something that would get me by as I saved for another set. My horse has extremely sensitive skin, so I have to be very careful about what I put on his legs. He has scars from Eskadrons rubbing him, and my Equifits fell apart in a matter of months and made his legs really hot. For the past year I've been riding him in Euro Pro Heidi boots & Eskadron Climatex wraps for schooling and my Veredus for shows, which has kept the rubbing at bay. But recently my Euro Pro boots started to fall apart, my wraps weren't enough protection for jumping big, and my Veredus were stolen. So I set out to find yet another set of boots.

I went to one of my local tack stores to see what they had, and realized I hadn't bothered to look at these boots before. I played around with them and loved how soft and cushiony they were on the inside, especially where the tendon runs. Then I noticed a huge bonus - the foam was ventilated and so was the shell! I live in Valencia, which is basically a desert-turned-suburb, and in the summer it's often upwards of 100 degrees. That means keeping the horses' legs cool is a struggle, so I was excited to find affordable boots with ventilation. Whether it worked or not, I had no idea, but I figured it couldn't hurt.

Now let's talk price point - I knew I was going to wind up getting another set of Veredus boots no matter what because they are my favorite in the entire world and want a nicer boot to show in, so I didn't want to splurge on a schooling set. At $70 for the fronts and $55 for the hinds, I was sold.

I went to the barn with low expectations, as I've tried so many boots before and have been left disappointed. The first thing I noticed when I put them on was how nice they looked. They also fit my horse's leg perfectly, and the velcro straps had the perfect amount of stretch and adhered very well. It was when I was done with my lesson though, that I was truly blown away. THERE WAS NO FOOTING IN ANY OF THE BOOTS. Every single boot I've tried before has held some amount of sand in it, so I thought that was just unavoidable. The fact that these didn't was amazing to me because that stuff is yet another thing that could rub his legs and cause discomfort. His legs were also significantly cooler to the touch and a lot less sweaty than normal - the ventilation had worked! I had finally found a schooling boot that I loved.

I don't think these boots can be beat at this price point, and can only be topped by Veredus, which are much more expensive. These are definitely nice enough to show in as well, and are durable enough to use for both schooling and showing. These boots also wash up really well in the washing machine, which is a huge plus because who has time to scrub horse boots in the sink? I'm still getting some Veredus boots (the ventilated ones this time), but I'm so surprisingly thrilled with these and think they should get a lot more recognition.

All in all, I'd highly recommend :)
Let me know if you have any questions at all, and thanks for reading!
